Charming villages on the Algarve, the steep streets of Lisbon with colorful houses, and the fairy-tale palaces of Sintra are some of this country’s best attractions!

Best time to visit

Like many Mediterranean countries, Portugal can get hot in the summer so April to early June and mid-September to October are best.

Sitting on top of a hill with a manicured lawn and surrounded by mature trees, the Palace of Monserrate looks like a dream of pink and white. The lacy Moorish architecture, round tower and large cuppola are quite unique.

My experience in Portugal

Until a couple of years ago, Portugal wasn’t even on my radar but I have since realised that this small country has SO much to offer and it has shot up to be one of my favorite destinations in Europe.

Lisbon is a wonderful city with a great vibe (though unfortunately a lot of tourists). Even better, it is a great base to explore the story-book palaces of Sintra as well as the beautiful coast with the most romantic sunsets (great even if you are single)!

  • Transportation Tip – Public transport in Lisbon and surroundings works great and is inexpensive!
